A Hephzibah woman threw hot grease on her live-in boyfriend on Independence Day for a weird reason.
Brittany Chavonne Smith, 28, of Nunnery Road, threw hot grease from the stove on 31-year-old Emanuel Wright around 9 p.m. Saturday, according to a sheriff’s report.
“Wright stated that he wanted to go downtown with some friends and at that point Smith tried to stop him from leaving the residence,” a report ays. “He tried to get Smith out of his way and at that time Smith grabbed hot grease from the stove in which chicken was being cooked in and threw it at him. Wright stated that the hot grease landed on his left arm causing burns.”
The girlfriend told responding deputies that her boyfriend was trying to leave and she blocked him. She said he went to move her out of the doorway in which she was blocking him, so she grabbed the hot grease from the stove and threw it at him, a report says
Paramedics came and treated Wright for burns, but he refused to go to the hospital.
Smith was charged Saturday night with simple battery – family violence. She remained in jail on Sunday afternoon under no bond.
