A man has died following a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening in the 2500 block of Lumpkin Road, prompting a homicide investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene where they found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to Wellstar MCH Health, where he was pronounced dead, Coroner Mark Bowen said.
He was identified as 26-year-old Jaquavious Watkins of Lumpkin Road.
The Criminal Investigation Division was called in as the investigation unfolded. The Sheriff’s Office has classified the case as a homicide and stated that CID investigators are actively working the scene.
No suspect information has been released, and authorities have not disclosed a motive.
