Hooters Manager Accused of Attempted Rape on Female Hostess at Augusta Restaurant

-

A Hooters manager was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to rape an employee while she was changing, according to a sheriff’s report.

Reginald Luwaan, 26, of the 1200 block of Holden Drive, Augusta, is also accused of a separate sexual battery on a female hostess two days before that.

He remained in jail Thursday morning on charges of criminal attempted rape, aggravated sexual battery and sexual battery.

The victim in the attempted rape said that she spilled something on her uniform Monday night and asked Luwaan for a new one.

“She asked him to unlock the dressing room, but he advised her to change behind the door to the merchandise room,” the sheriff’s report says. “When she began to change, Luwaan came into the room and shut off the lights and closed the door behind him. Luwaan approached her and began pulling at her shorts trying to get them down.”

The victim said she pulled against her boss, telling him to stop. But he inserted his fingers into her and then exposed himself.

At that moment, “the other girls on shift with her began calling for her. That is when Luwaan opened the door and she ran out,” the report says.

The victim then left the restaurant and called the sheriff’s office.  The suspect was booked into the jail within 12 hours of the call.

While officers were following up at the restaurant on Tuesday, a woman approached them about an incident Saturday night with Luwaan.

She said she was in the “To Go” area of Hooters when her boss approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks. She said that she pushed Luwaan away from her and advised him not to touch her. She said she later made a complaint about the incident to another manager, who confirmed a formal complaint was made and turned into the HR department of the company.
