In Martinez, Auto Zone Parts Manager Swindles $500 for ‘Family Reasons’

-

A sales manager for the Martinez Auto Zone was arrested Tuesday for embezzling over $500 through fraudulent refunds, according to a sheriff’s report.

Tiago Carsten, 24, was charged with theft by deception and probation violation.

Supervisor James Moore stated he conducted an interview with the parts sales manager after discovering seven fraudulent refunds made by Carsten. The suspect admitted to processing the fake returns between Jan. 22-30 at the store on Columbia Road, a report says.

“Mr. Carsten used the money for family reasons,” a report says. “Mr. Carsten stated he made a mistake and admitted to doing the transactions.”
