Augusta Man Accused of Raping Woman at His Home

-

An Augusta man with a history of criminal offenses was charged Wednesday with felony rape after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting by force at his residence on Blake Drive, off Center West Parkway in Augusta.

Zachary Corbin, 21, is being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail on the rape charge.

Details of the rape are sketchy, but a warrant accuses the suspect of having sex with the woman “forcibly and against her will” at his home.

Corbin is well-known to local law enforcement officers, mostly in Columbia County. He has been arrested three times for driving on a suspended license.

He pleaded guilty in 2011 to a more serious offense of entering an automobile to commit theft, and a judge gave him probation. He also has convictions for theft by taking and criminal trespassing, according to a county website.
