Man Fatally Shot at Lunchtime Sunday Outside Circle K in Hephzibah

-

Richmond County authorities are investigating a homicide that took the life of a man at the Circle K on Tobacco Road in Hephzibah.

Deputies got the call about shots fired at 12:07 p.m. Sunday at the Circle K on Tobacco Road. They arrived to find a male victim who had died from his injuries. The coroner has not released his name at the time of the post.

“Investigators are on scene and no further information will be released at this time due to the active investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

A witness said she and her spouse were getting gas when the shooting occurred. She went inside Circle K to pay while her spouse was waiting in the vehicle.

“I heard the shot and thought a gas pump exploded,” the woman said on Facebook. “I was coming out the door and saw that my spouse was fine so went on and got my gas. I saw all these people around someone on the ground. I assumed it was a shooting and went on about my business.”

“Just another day and shot in Augusta,” the woman said.
