The GBI has arrested a Martinez couple for despicable sex crimes, accused of alleged acts on a child that took place in Jefferson County over the past seven years, authorities said.
Richard Wood, 44, and Lynda Wood, 31, have both been charged with aggravated child molestation and incest. The case was opened last Tuesday when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to investigate allegations of child molestation that occurred while the Woods were living in Wrens.
“Preliminary information indicates that between May of 2015 and January of 2021, the couple had inappropriate sexual contact with a minor child,” a GBI press release says.
GBI agents searched their home last Wednesday on Renee Court in Martinez and seized electronic evidence connected to the case. They were transported to the Columbia County Jail before being transferred to Jefferson County.
This investigation is active and ongoing, the GBI said. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the GBI Region 7 Office in Thomson at 706-595-2575.
