-

A 20-year-old Martinez man died and three people in his car were injured Saturday  morning when he crashed on Interstate 20 in Aiken County, authorities said.

Taylor M. Ross was was unrestrained around 7 a.m. Saturday when he flipped his vehicle around mile marker 28 on I-20W and was ejected from the 1999 Chevrolet vehicle, Coroner Darryl Ables said in a press release.

“The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, the driver over-corrected running off the left side of the road which cause the vehicle to overturn,” Ables said. “The unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene from blunt force injuries.”

The other occupants were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. Two of the occupants were 20 years old and one occupant was 19, said Trooper Nick Pye with the S.C. Highway Patrol. Their conditions were not given.

THE S.C. HIGHWAY PATROL AUDIO PRESS RELEASE:

The Highway Patrol is continuing with the investigation. Toxicology testing are pending, the coroner said.

A Facebook page for Ross indicates he moved to the Augusta area in 2020 from Florida.
