Mental Health Patient Attacks Staff at Aiken Facility

-

Workers at Aiken’s Aurora Pavilion had their hands full on Aug. 26.

A patient at the behavioral health facility began to kick, spit and strike out at the staff who were trying to restrain him, an Aiken Department of Public Safety report said.

The officers were able to take the Kenneth Hammond, 22, into custody. He was charged with assault and battery 3rd degree, the report said.

He was taken to the ER at Aiken Regional Medical Center for blood work and then booked into the Aiken County Detention Center, the report said.
