A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Friday night in downtown Augusta, making at least eight people killed this year while crossing roads in Richmond County.
The male adult was struck by a vehicle at 10th and Greene Street, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release. He was taken by paramedics to Wellstar MCG Health, where he was pronounced dead at 10:57 p.m. Friday. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
A witness video caught the moments when paramedics responded and tried to pump the chest of the victim before being loaded into an ambulance.
