Richmond County deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for deceiving the elderly.
Lamontra Medlock, 49, is wanted on charges of felony theft by deception and exploitation of the elderly and disabled. The crimes he took part in took place in Richmond County where his warrants are active.
According to reports, Medlock is accused of writing checks to himself from his step-grandfather’s account. Staff at the Wells Fargo bank where the 86-year-old step grandfather had his account noticed the transactions.
Staff said that from July 2 to July 26, Medlock had cashed checks totaling $42,600. Staff determined Medlock had written the checks to himself without the 86-year-old’s knowledge.
He was also using the step-grandfather’s credit card during this time where he racked up charges totaling $6,821.13. Medlock also made phone payments from the man’s account to pay off the credit card. Those payments totaled $26,372.25.
The step-grandfather later showed that his signature did not match those on the checks which Medlock forged.
