RCSO Seeks Man Wanted for Aggravated Assault

-

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for 48-year-old Walter Anthony Tarver in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred early Sunday on the 200 block of Warren Road in Augusta.

Tarver is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 147 pounds. Authorities believe he may be staying at hotels along Washington Road and Wrightsboro Road in Augusta. He is considered armed and dangerous, and the Sheriff’s Office urges the public to avoid any direct contact with him.

Tarver has active warrants on file with the Sheriff’s Office and is wanted for questioning in relation to the assault. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen him or who has information regarding his whereabouts to contact Investigator Joshua Evans or any on-call investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080 or 706-821-1020.

Tarver has two previous arrests in Richmond County, including a conviction for shoplifting and a 2023 arrest for misdemeanor obstruction of an officer, which is still pending in court.
