Teen Charged with Sexual Battery on 10-Month-Old Baby in Aiken County!

-

An Augusta teenager was charged Tuesday with a sex crime on a 10-month-old baby after injuries were discovered by a church worker in Warrenville, authorities said.

Maguael Troy Adams, 18, was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor or attempted.

He is being held in Aiken County, where a mugshot shows him with a restraint jacket. Adams has a history of arrests in Richmond County, including charges for shoplifting and entering an auto to commit theft.

According to Aiken County arrest warrants, Adams is accused of committing sexual battery on the 10-month-old baby girl on Sept. 21 by “penetrating her anus causing visible injuries and blunt force penetrating trauma and an anal tear.”

“These injuries were sustained during the time period in which the defendant was unsupervised with the victim,” the warrant says. The crime allegedly occurred in Warrenville by Adams, who is described as a person close to the family. The incident did NOT happen at church, authorities said.

A sheriff’s report says that someone approached the baby’s aunt at church on Sept. 22 and showed her the child’s rectal area. The church worker suggested the aunt take her niece to the hospital immediately. The sheriff’s office and DSS responded and met the victim’s family at a local hospital, starting the investigation.
