Aiken County authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Warrenville resident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Around 1:48 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots near the intersection of Sarah Street and Farrell Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Tranard E. Sheppard, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was found lying in a yard in the 400 block of Sarah Street.

Emergency personnel pronounced Sheppard dead at the scene at 2:56 a.m., according to Coroner Darryl Ables. He confirmed the death and is collaborating with sheriff’s investigators. An autopsy will be performed in Newberry.

No suspects have been identified at this time, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 803-642-1761.

The investigation remains active, and officials say further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
