Teen Victim is Identified in Augusta’s Latest Murder

The Coroner’s Office is investigating the shooting death of 18-year-old Ketron McCray, according to a press release.

The victim was shot on the 400 block of Aiken Street on Saturday night. McCray was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:10 p.m., Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

McCray’s body will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy.

Richmond County authorities said the victim was on a bicycle when he was shot and killed while speaking with a group of people. No suspects or arrests have been announced.

The victim’s listed address was on the 800 block of Strother Drive, the coroner said.

Friends of Ketron are remembering him on Facebook, including this message that Lele Ruffin wrote online to the victim: “I didn’t see you in a while but some how we cross paths yesterday, im thankful for the hug you gave me not knowing it will be the last for now. Ill never for get all the times we shared love and miss baby boy have me a 211 ready when i get there.”
