Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident following a high-speed police chase in Richmond County on Friday evening.

According to Lt. Caleb Lee of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 7:53 p.m. when a Blythe police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to comply and fled the scene, leading authorities on a dangerous pursuit down Deans Bridge Road.

As the suspect’s vehicle sped away, it crossed into oncoming traffic, ultimately causing a devastating head-on collision with another vehicle. The impact was severe, and all three occupants of the fleeing vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the other vehicle were injured and have been transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) were notified immediately following the crash. The southbound lanes of Deans Bridge Road near Etterlee Road were closed as authorities conducted their investigation.

According to GSP, the accident involved a Ford F250 and a passenger vehicle. No other details were available.
