Voluntary Manslaughter Charge is Expected After Shooting Death of Aiken County Man

-

A Jackson man was killed after an argument at a home in North Augusta early Friday, leading to an arrest.

Richard Ernest Posey, 56, of Ridge Spring, is facing charges of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 44-year-old Carlos J. Turner Sr. of Jackson, a press release says.

Officers responded around midnight Friday to 928 Old Aiken Road for a reported shooting incident. When they arrived at the home, Turner was found in a back room, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound.

Witnesses said there was a verbal argument between Turner and Posey prior to the shooting. Posey was still at the house and was taken into custody.

Posey was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center where he is expected to be charged with Voluntary Manslaughter and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.
