Aiken Man Killed After Crashing Moped into Utility Pole

-

An Aiken man was killed early Friday after crashing his moped into a utility pole while riding on Seneca Avenue, authorities said.

Baxter Felix Vinson Jr., 49, was pronounced dead on the scene from blunt force trauma, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

Vinson was traveling east on Seneca Avenue near Shore Drive in Aiken around 3:25 a.m. Friday when he crossed the westbound lane, left the road and hit the utility pole. The Coroner’s Office, along with South Carolina Highway Patrol, are continuing with the investigation. Toxicology analysis is pending, the coroner said.

His sister, Jennifer Tullis, remembered him in a Facebook post Friday: “This don’t seem real.. oh man I wish I would’ve told you that I loved you more. You were like one of my best friends. I could tell you anything. You were always so fun to be around always had me laughing so hard. Why you? Why y’all leave me here all by myself? Felix, you were the only brother I had left.”
