Aiken Police Officer Overturns Jeep in Off-Duty DUI Wreck. Now She’s Out of a Job.

-

An Aiken Public Safety officer has been fired after overturning her Jeep in an off-duty DUI wreck, authorities said.

Ashley P. Marshall wrecked her 2018 Jeep after running off the road Wednesday at the intersection of Williston Road at Mt. Beulah Road in Aiken County, authorities said.

It was 2 in the morning.

“The driver disregarded a stop sign, travelled off of the roadway to the left, struck a fence, hit several trees, and overturned,” said Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Marshall was arrested and charged with DUI.

“Officer Marshall’s employment with the City of Aiken has been terminated as a result,” Aiken Public Safety Lt. J.D. Mahoney said in a press release.

Marshall was reportedly taken to the hospital, meaning there was not likely a trip to the jail for a mugshot.
