Deveunte Zavien Calloway, a 26-year-old resident of Augusta, lost his life in the incident. The incident unfolded on Old Savannah Road at 13th Avenue.

Calloway was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla when he lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a fence and guardrail. The vehicle came to rest partially submerged in the canal, Coroner Mark Bowen said.
