An Augusta man became Richmond County’s 29th homicide after he was fatally shot on Tuttle Street, authorities said.

Richmond County deputies responded to the 700 block of Tuttle Street in Augusta at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday and found 29-year-old Frederick Nelson had been shot at least once. He was deceased on the scene, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

The sheriff’s office release no information on possible suspects or a motive.

It marks the county’s 29th homicide case, although those cases have resulted in 32 deaths this year since some cases involved two deaths.  At least seven of this year’s homicides remain unsolved, according to RCSO records.
