Augusta Suspect Sought for Killing Pregnant Woman & Her Unborn Baby

-

With the absence of any wanted flyer for the suspect in the killing of a pregnant Augusta woman and her unborn baby, her family has taken matters into their own hands.

In a week-old Facebook post, Bray Jackson shared an image of the man who has a pending murder warrant in last May’s killing of her sister, Shaneikwa Lafavor and unborn baby girl, Gorgeous Dior Lafavor.

That man is 44-year-old Shawn Antonio Walker. Warrants against the suspect accuse him of fatally shooting Lafavor and her unborn baby on East Taylor Street. The gunfire also injured a man and 11-year-old child.

Walker is wanted for murder, two counts of aggravated assault, weapon possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In her post, Bray Jackson asks, “How is he still on the run?”

At the time of the death, Richmond County authorities released few details about the shooting or a possible suspect. After arriving to a report of gunfire, “The female adult was deceased at the scene and the adult male was transported to the hospital in critical condition,” sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee said in a press release. “The child, 11 years of age, was transported to the hospital for treatment, condition unknown.”

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office took out warrants on Walker four days after the killings, yet never announced that they had solved the crime. In the nine months since the death, no press release or wanted flyer has been issued.

That could explain why Bray Jackson posted an image of the suspect herself. She also begged people to share her post.

“All it take is a share to get his face out there. I want Justice for my sister,” she says with a purple heart emoji. “My sister was pregnant. This boy Shawn injured a 11 year old, a grown man & took an unborn!”

The post has gone viral, with over 600 shares since it was posted a week ago.

Bray Jackson is same woman who recounted in May how she heard about the death of her sister on social media. She also said she didn’t know what happened but thought Lafavor wasn’t the target.

“Why would someone even do that to her?” Jackson said through tears said last May. “I know my sister had a mouth, but why. I don’t even feel like she was the main target. I don’t even feel like the s**t was towards her. I feel like it was some other s**t, some other crazy a** s**t.”

Lafavor, 29, was a mother of a young girl and expecting another child. She was seven months pregnant. The victim also had at least one other child, a school-age daughter, who survived her.

On her Facebook page, Lafavor is described as a “digital creator” who is single and went to Laney High School. “I’m just a woman that’s trying to make it in this hard world,” Lafavor said in her online profile.

The suspect, Walker, is a convicted felon with a long list of convictions, including aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, simple battery and more. He also has a pending grand jury indictment for another aggravated assault from 2018, but those warrants have gone unserved for five years, leaving him free to continue his gun violence.

In the comment section of Bray Jackson’s plea for help in getting Shawn Walker in jail, friends challenged their audience to help in the hunt for Walker.

“If y’all know something please say something,” Shay Antley said. “If y’all really was Toya Lafavor’s friends, then prove it”.
