Cop Killing Update: Teen Arrested at Augusta Mart for Tampering with Evidence in Ridley Case

-

An Augusta teen has been charged in connection with Tuesday night’s shooting death of Investigator Cecil Ridley.

Deonquez Reid, 18, of Augusta, was arrested Friday for tampering with evidence, a felony.

Reid was arrested without incident at the Augusta Mart, 1713 MLK Jr. Blvd., by GBI Agents and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Investigators. That is where the investigator was allegedly shot by convicted felon Alvin Hester Jr. on Tuesday night.

Reid is being held at the Richmond County Jail. A GBI press release did not specify the evidence mentioned in the tampering charge.
