Hephzibah Woman Kills 75-Year-Old Husband with Gunshot to the Head

A Hephzibah woman shot her 75-year-old husband in the head Thursday morning, killing him, authorities said.

This was a domestic violence incident involving the victim, James Christopher Drake, and his wife, Freda Eugenia Drake, who shot him, authorities say. Freda Drake is being charged with murder and weapon possession.

During the investigation, it was learned this was a Domestic Violence incident involving the victim, James Christopher Drake (75 yoa, W/M) and his wife who shot him, Freda Eugenia Drake (71 yoa, W/F).  Freda Drake is being charged with (1) count of Murder and (1) count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime and will be booked into the Charles B Webster Detention Center.  Incident Report and Booking Photo will be released as soon as they are available.  No further information at this time.

On January 9, 2020 at 6:30AM, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 3892 Wendell St in Hephzibah, GA for a subject who was shot with a gun.  Upon arrival, Deputies observed a deceased 75 year old male inside the residence with a gunshot wound to his head.  After further investigation, it was determined the victim’s wife, a 71 year old female shot her husband with a handgun.  Investigators responded to the address and are investigating this incident as a homicide.  No further information available at this time.
