In Martinez, Little Caesars Pizza Worker Punches Younger Employee in the Mouth

-

An argument over a dough machine turned bloody recently at the Little Caesars Pizza in Martinez.

Employee Devontay Crumpler, 19, is accused of punching a 16-year-old worker in the mouth on Oct. 12, according to a sheriff’s report.

Crumpler was arrested last Monday and charged with aggravated battery in the case.

The boy’s mother told authorities that her son called her after getting punched. She rushed over to the pizza place on Columbia Road and found her son bleeding badly. She called the sheriff’s office.

The victim said he and Crumpler got into an argument over the dough machine. He said he turned on the machine and Crumpler got mad since he was cleaning it.

The boy walked away and went into the freezer, but Crumpler followed him and “began punching him in the face, causing his two front upper teeth to break loose,” the sheriff’s report says.

The victim was taken to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment.

Another employee confirmed the victim’s statement.

Investigators searched the freezer and found spots of blood. A video shows the two workers arguing near the dough machine. The victim is seen taking a playful fighting stance with Crumpler before walking away.

“Devontay then takes off his apron and walks toward the freezer,” the report says. “A few employees can be seen attempting to hold Devontay back away from the freezer. He then pushes the employees out of the way, causing one employee to fall to the ground. Devontay swings open the freezer door and walks inside.”

The next image shows the victim walking out with blood coming from his mouth as he is chased out the back door by Crumpler.

Crumpler left before deputies arrived, but he surrendered a week later.
