Missing Appling Girl, 11, Had Sex Meet-Up with Charlotte Man, 20

A 20-year-old Charlotte man came to Columbia County on Friday to have sex with an 11-year-old Appling girl who he met through a social media app, authorities said.

Sung Jun Yoon, 20, was found early Saturday with the runaway girl at the Avid Hotel in Grovetown, where he allegedly had both oral and vaginal sex with the preteen, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into the jail on charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. He is being held without bond.

The girl’s mother and her boyfriend reported the girl missing on Friday night. The girl texted her mom that she was walking with a friend from school. The girl’s phone was later turned off, and the mother confirmed with the friend’s mother that the 11 year old was not with her.

Investigators later discovered that the girl had taken a taxi to the Avid Hotel on Husk Box Way in Grovetown. Deputies found Yoon had registered Room 228, and the girl was located there.

Authorities say the girl first met Yoon through an app called Meeff, a social app designed to “make global friends.” The app says it has over 4 million users signed up across 190 countries. The app advertises that it includes “a significant number of Korean users looking for international friends.”
