RICHMOND COUNTY: 3 People Shot in Downtown Augusta

Three people were shot early Saturday in downtown Augusta and are expected to survive, authorities said.

Richmond County officers responded to gunfire at 1:25 a.m. Saturday on the 900 block of Broad Street, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee.

“Upon arrival, deputies located three victims who were shot at least one time in their lower extremities,” Sgt. Lee said in a press release at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. “The victims were transported to the hospital for treatment and are all listed in stable condition.”

Investigators responded to the scene. The sheriff’s office did not provide any other information on a possible motive or suspects, or the identities of those shot.
