Two Augusta Girls Die in Overnight Fire; Mom & Sister Escape

Tragedy struck the 1908 Moore Road in Augusta early on Thursday as firefighters battled a house fire that claimed the lives of two young children.

The blaze erupted at 1:04 am Thursday, prompting an emergency response from Augusta Fire EMS. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames, firefighters discovered the lifeless bodies of Ty’Asia Clifford, 10, and Aubrey Williams, 7, inside the home.

The mother and another daughter managed to escape the inferno but were hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the fire. The Augusta Fire EMS expressed their condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to the family” in a somber message.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has launched an investigation into the tragic incident, seeking to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two children.

Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene at 2:10 am Thursday. Autopsies have been scheduled to provide further insight into the devastating loss.
