Two Passengers Die in Single-Vehicle Wreck in Augusta; Driver is Rushed to Hospital

Two passengers died Saturday in a single-vehicle wreck in Richmond County, authorities said.

The driver was rushed to the hospital, where their condition was not immediately clear.

No names have been released. Here is the press release from Sgt. Caleb Lee with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office:

“On April 3, 2021 at 1751 hours, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office traffic division responded to a single vehicle accident that occurred at Plantation Road at Mike Padgett Highway.  Upon their arrival, they observed two deceased subjects who were passengers and the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.  The driver’s condition is unknown at this time.  The accident is still being investigated and no further information is available. Plantation Road is blocked to all traffic so please avoid this area and find alternative routes.”
