It’s been over a year since a young woman in Warrenville was raped by a burglar at 3 in the morning.
The person she named as her attacker – Clarence Gilmore – was finally arrested Friday and charged with criminal sexual conduct, burglary and kidnapping. That crime took place April 20, 2018.
The 23-year-old woman told authorities that Gilmore entered her bedroom and raped her. A report says Gilmore placed his hands over her mouth.
The same suspect was arrested a month later for a violent home invasion in Hephzibah, where he allegedly climbed through the window of his father-in-law’s home with a gun and threatened to kill him, according to a sheriff’s report. A sheriff’s report says his wife and their 1-year-old child were living there at the time.
The outcome of that case is not clear.
Gilmore, 27, of Kevin Road, Hephzibah, remained in the Aiken County Jail on Saturday.
