An Augusta woman and a baby were found dead inside their home on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called about 4:15 p.m. Saturday to the 1600 block of Chase Creek Court in reference to deceased persons, according to Sgt. John Perry.

“Upon arrival, deputies located an adult female and male infant deceased inside the residence,” the sergeant said in a press release.

No information on the nature or cause of the deaths was announced.

The names of the deceased were not released.  The Coroner’s Office was on the scene and were working to notify family. Autopsies are scheduled, Coroner Mark Bowen said.
