Army Veteran, 82, Caught with Underage Girl in Hephzibah, Begs for a Break

-

An elderly Army veteran was caught with his pants down Saturday performing oral sex on a naked 14-year-old girl in a vacant lot in Hephzibah, authorities said.

IMG_2048Wearing only underwear and black loafers, suspect Ervin Ray Turner begged the deputy to give him a break after serving in the military for 30 years.

“Come on man, we didn’t have sex, I only kissed it a little,” Turner said.

Turner, 82, of Oak Ridge Drive, Augusta, was arrested for aggravated child molestation. He is being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail.

Investigators first believed the girl might have been a granddaughter but a spokesman said Sunday that the suspect and victim were not related. Sheriff’s Sgt. Glen Rahn said he did not have more information on their relationship.

A woman who lives along Lace Road called the cops at 2:30 p.m. Saturday when she saw a suspicious truck in the vacant lot (pictured here). A responding deputy found a white 1994 Ford 150XLT truck in a thick wooded area on the property. He caught the suspect performing oral sex on the nude girl in the truck.

From the officer’s report: “As I reached Mr. Turner’s side he raised his head up a little and smiled at (the victim) before looking at me and continuing to smile. I told them both to stop and get dressed.”

The officer quickly realized the girl was young and took Turner into custody, detaining him in the patrol vehicle.

The officer said, “When I was taking Mr. Turner into custody he told me that he did 30 years in the Army and asked if I could give him a break. I told him that he would not get a break for this.”

A sheriff’s investigator contacted the girl’s mother, a report says.

The woman who lives on the street said her family has seen the same vehicle in the vacant lot four or five other times. It made the dogs bark. She told The Jail Report that she thought the people might have been making meth.

When she learned the young girl was being abused, she cried all day Saturday and asked her Facebook friends to pray for the girl.

“Sad situation, but hopefully this little girl is now free of this awful situation,” the woman said.
