2 Columbia County Officers Injured by Car After Woman Tries to Flee

-

Two Columbia County officers were transported to the hospital Tuesday after being dragged and struck by a woman’s car near the Circle K in Evans.

The officers had responded to the Circle K at 665 Fury’s Ferry Road to a report of a woman taking off her clothes and claiming she was dying. Authorities say the woman, To Mesha Brown of Augusta, was “dancing around the store and crawling under shelves, possibly under the influence.”

Deputy Christopher Robertson, along with County Marshal David Willis, made contact with the 27-year-old woman and called for EMS for a mental evalation.

“During the evaluation Brown requested to sit in her car,” sheriff’s Maj. Steve Morris said. “Then she ran to her car (silver Toyota Corolla) and attempted to put it in gear. Both Robertson and Willis attempted stop Brown and in the process of the car backing up, Robertson was knocked to the ground by the car door. As Willis was still attempting to stop Brown, she put the car in drive causing the car to jump the curb and strike an ice machine, pinning Willis in between the car and the door.”

The car was finally put in park and Brown was taken into custody. Both Robertson and Willis were checked at the scene by EMS then transported to the hospital for further evaluation, both with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Brown was also evaluated, then transported to jail without further incident. She is facing charges of aggravated assault and obstruction.

Brown is the same woman charged on June 10 with obstruction, unlawful conduct during a 911 call and bribery. A Columbia County sheriff’s report describes erratic behavior in that case:

To Mesha Brown called 911 on 6 10 2023 to report that her boyfriend was threatening her and throwing her belongings out of his house. Originaly To Mesha told dispatch that Gordon was threating her with a firearm but then recanted, and said he did not have a firearm. When I arrived on scene, To Mesha was sitting in her vehicle, and none of her belonging were thrown anywhere. I spoke to To Mesha and asked her what threats were made, and she stated he told her to leave the house and she wanted her crab legs, and because she could not get her crab legs, she felt threatened.

To Mesha also called 911 on 5 27 23 and stated her boyfriend was actively assaulting her, and when deputies responded, she told them it was not physical. To Mesha also called on 5 25 23 and said that her boyfriend was actively stabbing her tires with a knife and had a gun. When deputies arrived on the scene, it was found that To Mesha was not even on scene, but was at the Bobby Jones Walmart, and her boyfriend was not on scene either. To Mesha was then driven to the residence, and when asked why she called and told dispatch her boyfriend was stabbing her tires with a knife and a gun on his hip; she stated, “It has happened before, and she was worried it was happening now.” To Mesha has called several times and stated something was happening when nothing was going on.

Due to To Mesha fabricating several reports to 911 on several different dates, she was taken into custody. When I attempted to place To Mesha into custody, she snatched away from me and tried to back away. I grabbed To Mesha`s right arm, but she refused to give me her left arm. I then gained control of To Mesha and placed her in handcuffs. When I put on To Mesha`s seatbelt, she held up a 20 dollar bill and said, ” I will give this if you take me back to his house.” I then transported To Mesha to CCDC. I then met with Magistrate Judge Hornsby, who issued a warrant for Unlawful Conduct During a 911 call, Obstruction, and Bribery.
