Two Evans High School students required hospital visits over the last week in violent assaults, including a 15-year-old boy who was choked to unconsciousness on Tuesday, according to a sheriff’s report.
The 15-year-old boy ended up at Doctors Hospital after this week’s attack. A classmate was seen on video Tuesday walking up behind the victim and choking him for an extended period of time until he passed out. The victim fell to the floor face-first, causing him to bite a hole through his lip, the report says.
The student suspect was taken into custody for aggravated battery. He went to adult jail for processing before going to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
Last Friday, a 16-year-old boy was punched and choked until he passed out in the boy’s bathroom, a report says. But no charges were filed based on conflicting statements and waivers of prosecution being signed by a parent of each student, a report says.
The 16 year old said the classmate claimed he could help him with his neck pain and could “pop his neck,” a report says. So he agreed.
According to a witness, the classmate then punched the 16 year old and put him in a chokehold. The injured student said he passed out and struck his head on the bathroom stall, causing a laceration over his left eye that required four stitches.
However, the alleged attacker claimed that the 16 year old punched him first and he simply put the classmate in a chokehold to prevent further assault. He said he helped the injured student to the office after he passed out.
