A Warrenville man has been charged with having a stolen gun Thursday that was used in the fatal shooting of a man in rural Aiken County, but no charges have been filed related to the death.
Jeremiah David McFalls, 44, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful carrying of a pistol.
Aiken County authorities continue the investigation into the argument and shooting death of 23-year-old Lloyd Widener III of Trenton. He was shot multiple times Thursday afternoon at 280 Old Friar Road, just north of Aiken. Witnesses told investigators that Widener was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend which later involved McFalls, according to sheriff’s Capt. Eric Abdullah.
“It is possible that further charges may be forthcoming as this case develops,” Capt. Abdullah said.
McFalls has a long history of charges related to failure to pay child support.
For his part, Widener had also been previously charged with a weapons offense, with a 2020 arrest for unlawful carrying of a pistol.
