Aiken Resident Billy Graham Killed After Running Off Road & Hitting Tree

-

An Aiken man named Billy Graham died early Sunday from injuries suffered the night before after running off the road, authorities said.

Graham, 61, was traveling in a 1998 Ford F150 truck on Chime Bell Church Road around 8:50 p.m. Saturday when he ran off the right side and struck a tree and ditch.

He was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at approximately 12:32 a.m. Sunday, Coroner Darryl Ables said.

The Coroner’s Office, along with South Carolina Highway Patrol, are continuing with the investigation. Toxicology analysis is pending.

Graham was remembered Sunday on Facebook by his friend Cliff Powell with old photos and this message: “Billy was a guy who for years and years wanted to be a special state constable and applied for that position multiple times. The picture that I have attached is one where he was recently appointed a constable and had been in that job for about one week before he and I and several others were assigned to assist Aiken city with a search warrant. This was about 1999 or the year 2000.”
