Augusta boy, 16, Charged in Murder at Woodcrest Apartments

-

A 16-year-old Augusta boy has been charged as an adult with murder in the latest Augusta homicide.

Bernard Freeman Jr., of Woodcrest Drive, has been charged in the murder of 30-year-old William David Wolf, authorities said.

Wolf died at the hospital from injuries suffered when he was shot around 2 p.m. Wednesday near Woodcrest Apartments. Friends say Wolf may have gone by the apartment complex to drop someone off around the 3000 block of Woodcrest Drive when he was shot by the boy, who lived nearby. A motive is unclear.

Freeman is being charged as an adult with murder and weapon possession.

Meanwhile, the victim was being remembered as “an amazing brother and friend.” Keyhandra Reynolds said he was a very respectful and nonviolent person with a good spirit.

“Never was a time I’v seen him mad,” Reynolds said. “He had the biggest smile to light up the room. Like a big gentle bear full of love,” she said.
