An Augusta man who was attacking strangers last Friday outside a local gas station was stopped in his tracks by one thing:
A man with a gun.
For unknown reasons, suspect Christian Lamar Brown was running through traffic last Friday night (March 10) near the Sprint gas station on Gordon Highway. Then he attacked a woman and a man, according to a sheriff’s report.
A deputy explained what happened when good Samaritan Michael Murphy stepped in to help:
“Murphy stated he confronted Brown, who at this time continued to act belligerent. Murphy stated at this time he felt threatened by Brown and drew his firearm at Brown in order to ensure his safety. Murphy stated Brown then held up his hands and Murphy walked to his vehicle to call the police.”
Deputies arrived, but not before Brown attacked another stranger who didn’t have a gun, leaving a mark on that victim’s face. Brown wrestled with two officers before being taken into custody.
He was charged with obstruction and two counts of simple battery.
