An Augusta man who worked as custodian for Terrace Manor Elementary School has been charged with trying to meet up with a 11-year-old girl for sex.
Corey Deche Adams, 26, was charged Thursday with criminal attempted child molestation.
Adams talked with someone he thought was the girl on TikTok, according to a warrant. The messages show he arranged to meet up with the girl on the Fourth of July while her parents were away. He planned to have sexual intercourse with the victim.
“The accused further stated that he did not want to go to jail and wanted to keep their relationship a secret,” the warrant says.
Adams allegedly arrived at the victim’s residence to meet with the girl but was met by the victim’s father instead.
Adams reportedly worked as a custodian at Terrace Manor Elementary School, which has since been closed by the school district. Terrace Manor’s students are being moved to Wheeless Road Elementary and staff were guaranteed comparable jobs in the school district, according to media reports.
News of the school employee’s creepy messages with the girl were shared on Facebook, with hundreds of people sharing the post. The person who posted them accused Adams of preying on little kids on social media. Adams is only charged with one incident, and he remained in the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on Friday without bond.
