Augusta Teen Shoots Gun From Jeep, Hits Leg of Boy Running By

-

An Augusta teen was jailed on a misdemeanor charge this week after firing a gun from a Jeep and striking the leg of a younger teen who was near his vehicle.

Jaylavin Fulmer, 19, was charged with reckless conduct after Tuesday’s shooting incident on Bolt Drive in Augusta.

According to a warrant, Fulmer fired a .380-caliber pistol from his 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee “that struck the victim who was running past his vehicle.” The 16-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper left leg and was rushed to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition on Thursday.

Authorities say Fulmer’s actions in firing the weapon disregarded the risk and endangered the safety of the victim.

Fulmer is the same teen who was charged by school officials with affray last year in Richmond County. That charge never went to court, and a bench warrant was served on Fulmer when the teen was arrested this week.
