Breaking: RCSO Deputy Involved in Accident with SUV Carrying Children; Drivers & Kids Taken to Hospital

A Richmond County sheriff’s officer was involved in an accident on Tuesday morning with a SUV carrying children.

Here is the sheriff’s office press release:

“On October 13, 2020 at 1045 hours, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of Thirteenth St and Reynolds St for an accident with injuries.  Upon arrival, Deputies learned the vehicles involved were a dark in color SUV and an unmarked Dodge Charger driven by RCSO Cpl. Jason Payne. 

“Several occupants of the SUV to include children along with both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.  The Georgia State Patrol was requested to investigate the accident and are en route.  All traffic is being blocked on Thirteenth St and Reynolds St and we are asking the public to seek alternate routes. 

“No further information available at this time.”
