Columbia County Teen Dies After Fireworks Explosion Leads Several to Jump Off Dock

Columbia County authorities said they are reviewing the facts of the deadly fireworks explosion that led several people to jump off a dock Friday near Sankin Road.

Brantley Griffin, 14, died Sunday afternoon from injuries in that accident, according to the coroner’s office. He was being treated at Doctors Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries just after 5 p.m.

According to media reports, a group of people were forced to jump off the dock after fireworks got out of control. Paramedics took Griffin to the hospital after relatives performed CPR on him. According to Facebook posts, hospital testing showed that he was brain dead.
