-

A Jackson man who was struck and killed by a hit & run driver on Monday night has been identified as 64-year-old Pervis Stalnaker.

Authorities were called to Highway 28 near Swamp Road in Beech Island late Monday after a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, Coroner Darryl Ables said.

“Autopsy showed Mr. Stalnaker died from injuries sustained in the incident,” Ables said in a press release. “Toxicology analysis are pending.”

The S.C. Highway Patrol and MAIT are continuing with the investigation. No details have been released on a possible suspect or vehicle description.

Stalnaker was remembered on Facebook as amazing. Alyssa Jean remembered her “Pops” this way: “I’m definitely going to make you proud and we going to get justice, I promise you that pops. Heaven definitely gain another amazing angel. I really do hope they know what amazing man they have.”
