Martinez Resident Leaves His Garage Open 6 Inches for the Cat. Then, This Happens…

-

A Martinez man left his garage open 6 inches for his cat to enter and didn’t expect what happened next.

According to a Columbia County sheriff’s report, the young resident on Forrest Drive heard a noise in the garage at 2 a.m. Friday. So he walked out to investigate it.

He found a subject attempting to reach into the garage through the 6-inch gap.  The subject was only able to reach his arm into the garage, and it appeared that he was trying to find something.

The resident looked around and grabbed an axe. He then walked to the subject’s arm and used the top blunt part of the axe to drop on the subject’s hand.

The subject yelled and pulled his arm back and fled the area, the sheriff’s report says.

As the subject was fleeing, he yelled, “I’m sorry. I just needed some money.”

The resident pulled the garage open but the subject was already gone.  He then called the sheriff’s office.

No blood was seen in the area and nothing appeared to be missing, the report says.

What do you think of the resident’s actions? What would you have done if you discovered someone reaching into your garage?
