North Augusta Man Hit & Killed by Car in Augusta

-

A North Augusta man was trying to seek help for car problems Saturday night when he was hit by a car on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta, authorities said.

Parker Radford, 29, of Tamarack Road, died from those injuries early Sunday at Augusta University Medical Center, according to Coroner Mark Bowen. He was pronounced dead at 3:07 a.m. Sunday.

Th coroner said Radford had reportedly experienced car problems while traveling with his girlfriend in Augusta around 11 p.m. Saturday. He sought help at the Sprint gas station on Peach Orchard Road at Boykin Road. He may have been walking to get gas, the coroner said, but the store was closed at the time.

Radford was returning to his car and got hit while crossing the highway, Bowen said.

A Sprint employee said the 24-hour store may have been closed for shift change, which usually occurs late in the evening.

No autopsy will be done. Further details on the driver were not immediately released by the sheriff’s office.
