RCSO Fires 2 Ranked Officers, Demotes 2 Others for Inappropriate Conduct

-

Inappropriate conduct have led to the firings of two Richmond County officers and the demotions of two others, according to authorities.

The highest-ranking officer involved in the latest disciplinary actions was Capt. Brandon Beckman with the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division. The captain and newly-promoted Investigator Allison “Allie” Walker were terminated for not being truthful with internal affairs when questioned about an inappropriate relationship.

Capt. Beckman’s photo has already been removed from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office website, which highlights the command staff. He had been with the sheriff’s office for over 24 years.

In an unrelated case, Sgt. Aunarey Herbert and Cpl. Melissa Allen have both been demoted to deputies for inappropriate conduct. They have been suspended for five days, according to authorities.

Details on the reasons for the terminations and demotions have not yet been released. An Open Records Request was sent to the sheriff’s office on Tuesday afternoon.

The firings come as the sheriff’s office is already struggling to maintain its force and staff the jail, which has led them to require all officers to work an 8-hour shift at the detention center once every four weeks. In addition, the sheriff’s office has arrested and fired at least 25 officers over the last few years for various criminal offenses, including jail contraband, having sex in the jail and domestic violence.
