RCSO Investigates Home Invasion & Shooting at Fox Den Apartments

-

Victims in an overnight home invasion at Fox Den Apartments in Augusta are being uncooperative with officers despite one being shot in the foot and the other being struck in the face repeatedly, authorities said.

Around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to Piedmont Hospital’s emergency room for a gunshot victim.

“The victim reported that around midnight the previous evening, several subjects kicked in the front door to his residence on Fox Trace and assaulted him and shot him in the foot,” sheriff’s William McCarty said in a press release. “It is unknown why the victim waited overnight before he went to the hospital.”

The incident reportedly occurred at the victim’s residence on Fox Trace Drive in Augusta. Deputies went to the victim’s residence to investigate and located a second male victim who stated that he was also assaulted by the same subjects. Witnesses say he might have been pistol-whipped.

“That victim had injuries to the face and head,” the sergeant said. “Both subjects are being uncooperative with investigators.”

The investigation is continuing, according to authorities.
