RICHMOND COUNTY: Augusta Couple’s Deaths Investigated as Murder-Suicide, Police Say

-

Richmond County authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Saturday morning between a man and woman in a relationship.

Deraje Witt, 28, of Augusta, was found dead inside the apartment on Walden Drive, while a woman believed to be his girlfriend was located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a vehicle on Windsor Spring Road in Diamond Lakes Park. She has been identified as Ceasia Martin, 23, who lives in the apartment where Witt was found.

“Investigators responded to Martin’s residence and located a deceased male inside of her apartment,’” sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee said. “The investigation is still on-going, but the two incidents do appear to be related to each other and investigators are working the two scenes as a murder-suicide.”

Several people had reported Witt missing and not answering his phone calls on social media on Saturday. Later, news spread about the deaths through Facebook.
