Woman’s Body Found at Maxwell House in Augusta; Man Charged with Concealing Death

-

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a suspicious death that occurred at  the Maxwell House Apartments at 1002 Greene Street in Augusta.

The call came in at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Amanda Shetrone, 38, of the Maxwell House Apartments, was pronounced dead at 12:47 a.m. Wednesday, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

After Shetrone was discovered in apartment 918, deputies were also advised apartment 918 was the residence of Alaric Smith. “Investigators along with the Coroner’s office arrived on scene and determined Shetrone had been deceased for more than a day.  Investigators charged Alaric Smith with Concealing a Death at this time and further charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues,” a RCSO press release says.
