Warrenville Woman Claims Self-Defense After Shooting Boyfriend in the Back of the Head

-

A Warrenville woman claimed self-defense after shooting her boyfriend in the back of the head on Saturday, authorities said.

Lillian Cavalcante, 55, was arrested in connection with the shooting of 53-year-old Keith Swearingen, who sustained two gunshot wounds. He was shot once in the back of the head and one in the back of the left forearm. Swearingen was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment.

Cavalcante claimed she shot the victim “in self defense” despite the victim being shot in the back twice, according to a sheriff’s report. She was charged with attempted murder and possession of firearm or ammunition by person convicted of a violent felony.
